Our Mission
Chippie Bear Industries is an independent software research and development studio based in Helotes, Texas.
We build practical software focused on continuity, transparency, and user control. Our products help users preserve knowledge, understand system history, and maintain ownership of the information they depend upon.
Our products are built around a few core principles:
- Transparency: Important information should be visible, inspectable, and auditable.
- User Control: Users should remain the authoritative source of truth for their own data, knowledge, and workflows.
- Determinism: Given the same inputs, systems should produce the same results.
- Local First: Privacy, portability, and independence begin with local ownership.
- Practicality: Useful tools solve real problems today rather than promising future breakthroughs.
Our Story
Chippie Bear Industries began as a series of practical engineering experiments. Along the way we encountered two recurring problems:
- AI systems struggled to maintain continuity across long-running projects and conversations.
- Filesystems could show their current state but offered little insight into how they reached it.
Those observations led to the creation of our first products.
Whiskers treats AI models as stateless reasoning engines and provides continuity through explicit, user-controlled context.
JCOOP treats filesystem activity as evidence, preserving a verifiable history of operations that can be independently reviewed and replayed.
Though they address different domains, both projects share the same goal: helping users preserve knowledge, understand history, and remain in control of the systems they depend upon.
